Global Opportunities Program
The Global Opportunities (GO) Program assists Australian industry to link into
lobal supply chains and bid for work on major international projects. It also encourages multinational enterprises to make further investments in Australia.
The Australian Government is providing $254.1 million over ten years from 2007-08 for the Global Opportunities Program.
- The GO Program assists Australian industry to bid for work in global supply chains and major international projects and encourages multinational eterprises to make further investments in Australia.
- The Global Opportunities (GO) Program was announced in May 2007.
- The GO Program targets global opportunities for which there is competitive Australian industry capability and capacity in the manufacturing and services sectors and a role for the Government in improving access to opportunities and in developing a team approach by Australian industry, including small and medium enterprises, to pursuing global opportunities.
- The GO Program is designed to underpin long-term, coordinated and strategic approaches by industry capability teams to pursue global opportunities with the support of the Australian Government.
- Global opportunities targeted under the Program will be substantial, representing total commercial value in excess of A$500 million over a foreseeable period.
- The program also involves encouraging multinational enterprises already in Australia to make further investments, as well as partnering with Australian small and medium sized enterprises and research institutions.

Australia follows strict quarantine regulations. The Australian Quarantine and Inspection Service (AQIS) inspects luggage, cargo, mail, animals and plants and their products as well as providing inspection and certification for a range of exports.
AQIS's import conditions database ICON contains the Australian import conditions for more than 18,000 foreign plant, animal, mineral and human products.
