Transferring an existing visa to a new passport

Transferring an existing visa to a new passport

If you wish to have your current visa label re-evidenced into a new passport, please send your passport to our office by mail/courier. (We return passports by registered mail.)
If you wish to bring your passport to the Embassy in person, you will need to contact us for an appointment. See: Contact us

You will also need to provide one of the following documents:

•   your previous passport with evidence of your visa, or

•   if your previous passport was lost or stolen, a copy of a police report about the loss/theft, or

•   evidence of any name change where a passport has been issued in a new name, eg marriage certificate.

Please note that if you choose to make an appointment to come to the Embassy in person, we will make every effort to provide you with a new visa label on the same day, but in some cases this may not be possible.  If we cannot provide same-day service, we will advise you when you may collect your passport, or we can return it to you by mail.  You are requested to arrange your appointment as early as possible before your planned travel to Australia.
