Exhibition: Saidin Salkic - Human angst and joy

18 May – 17 June 2021, Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina

The inaugural exhibition Human angst and joy by Australian contemporary artist Saidin Salkic at the Australian Consulate in Sarajevo. This exhibition features a selection of Saidin’s latest series of paintings.

Saidin lives and works in Melbourne and his work has been curated nationally and internationally. His artistic opus also includes film making and digital media output.

Opera: Nicole Car performs at the Vienna State Opera

19 & 23 May 2021, Vienna

Australian soprano Nicole Car will be performing as Marguerite in Charles Gounod’s Faust. Nicole  Car is a graduate of the Victorian College of the Arts. She has established herself as one of the leading sopranos of her generation performing regularly for Opera Australia, Dallas Opera, Royal Opera House Covent Garden, Deutsche Oper Berlin and Opera de Paris. Nicole is the recipient of several prestigious awards, including the Best Female Performer in an Opera category at the 2018 Helpmann Awards.

Opera: Ben Connor performs at the Volksoper

20 May, 2, 5 & 25 June 2021, Vienna

Australian baritone Ben Connor will be performing in Johann Strauss’ popular operetta Die Fledermaus (Dr Falke). Ben Connor is a graduate of the Australian National University, has lived in Vienna since 2010 and has been a member of the Volksoper ensemble since the 2014/2015 season. Ben has won a number of competitions and awards, including the Richard Wagner Stipendium Bayreuth prize from “Klassik Mania”(Vienna). Ben has performed internationally, including in Estonia, Poland, Germany, and the Netherlands.

Exhibition: Patricia Piccinini Embracing the Future

Until 3 October 2021, Krems an der Donau


The exhibition Embracing the Future will be showcasing sculptures, installations, collages, and video projects, spanning two decades of the artistic oeuvre of Australian contemporary artist Patricia Piccinini. Internationally acclaimed Piccinini represented Australia at the 50th Venice Biennale. She has exhibited at prestigious museums and galleries around the globe and received numerous awards for her work.  Embracing the Future is her first large-scale presentation in Austria.  Piccinini began her career of forming hyper-realistic sculptures in the late 1990s, including by creating machine-like forms that examine the naturalisation of technology in the contemporary world.
